Kaijie Chen's work stems from an inquiry into the vast possibilities of synthesizing material science and visual design. She combines her knowledge of printing technology, creative visual design, and motion graphics to create bespoke experimental artworks. Aesthetically, Chen gravitates towards the futurist, the surreal, and the whimsical.

Techniques from material science and engineering inform her design practice. Chen is excited by how heat, pressure, magnetism, gravity, and other forces can become design choices. By incorporating unorthodox techniques and processes into her design thinking, she pushes the boundaries of what was previously imaginable.
Chen intends to create such bespoke products in collaboration with architects and interior designers. She is also interested in working with technology companies to develop experimental designs by leveraging their latest technologies. Her dream is to be a bridge between these three sectors (architecture, interior design, and engineering technology) to produce designs that elevate lived human experiences.
